CIN Admission Requirements

Individuals applying for admission must have extensive work experience in networking and telecommunications or they must satisfy the requirements for admission to the Master of Engineering in Telecommunications program. Two letters of reference are required and an interview may be required.

A Certificate in Networking will be issued to you upon successful completion of the MET core courses (ECE1801, 1802, 1803, and 1804). Please note that marks or transcripts for individual courses will not be issued, and that transfer to the MET program is not allowed. Also NO financial aid is available and that you should be prepared to provide your own financial support.

English Language Facility

All incoming students must have a good command of English. Applicants who were educated outside of Canada and USA must demonstrate facility in the English language before admission to the program. This requirement must be satisfied using one of the following tests:

TOEFL & TWE

minimum score TOEFL 580 & TWE 4.0 (paper-based);
minimum score TOEFL 237 & TWE 4.0 (computer-based);
minimum score TOEFLiBT 22/30 for each of the Writing and Speaking sections and an overall score of at least 93/120 (internet-based test)

You must ask the Test Centre to forward your official TOEFL/TWE scores to the School of Graduate Studies (institutional code for the University of Toronto is 0982; the department code is 66), as well as provide the MET Admissions Office with a copy of your scores.

Academic test - minimum score 7.0 Applicants must also contact their nearest British Council office.
MELAB Michigan English Language Assessment Battery
minimum score 85

Program Fees

Students may register for either Option A or Option B. The fee covers tuition, study materials, and textbooks. All fees are non-refundable and no financial aid is available for this program.

Option A: $13,000 Canadian
Option B: $16,000 Canadian

Fee Schedule

The Certificate program is only available on a part-time basis.
