Our Vision

In the Internet, computers and communications have converged into a platform that supports new modes of interaction and collaboration, with unprecedented ubiquitous access to information that provides great benefits to communities, commerce, education, entertainment and government. Service-oriented design, mashups, and peer-to-peer networking are indicative of the potential for this converged infrastructure to deliver rich content and support diverse new applications in a new information marketplace. Innovation in wireless and personal devices points to a continued evolution in the nature of human communications and interaction. Improvements in search, Web and learning technologies point to more intelligent applications and access to information. Clearly a new information infrastructure is emerging that will have unprecedented flexibility in the deployment of new applications and the marshaling of information.

The concentration in Information Networking within the Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering is designed to prepare engineers to practice in this environment through advanced study in the areas of communications, computing, and applications.
